Rafters are up...

The tarp was still on… but after removing it, a small amount of water had made it into the inside. It dried up quickly in the baking sun.

I have done everything on the cabin by myself. It started that way because nobody wanted to help, and after a while, I decided that I wanted to do it all alone. The above picture shows my method of getting the gable end rafter and ridge board mounted. I built it inside the cabin and took about 20 minutes to lift it into position. The other end was easy because I could stand on the loft.

Here is a shot of the Gable end rafter temporarily mounted in place.

Finished nailing all of the porch decking boards to prevent warping. I had only installed them with one nail at each end, but they were starting to cup with all the rain and heat.

Most of the rafters up.

Stairs temporarily installed. Need to pour some small footers to make it level and create a landing.

I finished nailing all the loft boards to the joists. The above shot is standing under the loft looking across the cabin. I am surprised at how much room there will be. (after bracing is removed)

A shot looking up at the rafters on the non-loft side of the room. Some of them are not nailed to the ridge board yet.

Installed the door.

Completely wrapped in plastic tarps awaiting the next rainstorm.

I left the property around 7pm and was completely wiped out by the time I made it home. Slept so hard Monday night, that I didn’t even dream…
